My very own bridget moment

I think I have found my own Colin Firth, or rather, Mark Darcy. Uber intelligent, not bad looking, and maybe a little posh. Probably too old, my friends would not approve, and definitely not my type, but if it worked for Bridget, why not me?

He works in the offices next to mine, has a PhD from Cambridge and a passion for Classical music and Science. He seems to have a crush on me, either that or he is just plain weird. Every time he walks past my office (which is at least 20 times a day) he stares in. He even came in to ask for a stapler the other day. I mean - they have 4 offices - do none of his colleagues own a stapler? Next he'll be asking for a cup of sugar.

The cheeky bugger managed to get my business card today too (he asked first), but at least that might stop the public displays of a school boy crush. Everyone in my office has noticed and now they all think he is a freak - I feel a little sorry for him.

On the recommendation of my good friend and colleague Louise, I added him as a friend on Facebook. (Work profile rather than personal, you don't want to share everything before getting past the stationary stage). Imagine my horror when looking through all 14 of his photo's to see a picture of him playing the recorder (and it was a recent photo).

But, Mark Darcy was a snob, wore weird jumpers and mingled with highly intellectual people - Bridget coped perfectly well (think "Chechnya") and it turned into a blossoming romance - am I ruling him out for all the wrong reasons?

Or, is the real truth that I am slightly desperate? My friends (I think) would not approve, my colleagues (I think) would just like to see me hooked up, My family (I think) would be a little overwhelmed at a complete Brainiac.

Either way, there is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy facebook stalking and sideways glances in the work place. After all, what is the worst that can happen?
