An update on life... results, success and friends with benefits

Following the removal of the cancerous cells two years ago, I had my annual test recently. I got home to find the NHS letter waiting for me. I pour myself a large glass of wine and sit at the table. This is the 3rd time i've had to go through this process - sitting alone waiting to open the envelope that could tell me the cancer cells are back. 15 minutes pass and the wine has gone. My hands are shaking.

"I am pleased to inform you that your results did not show any abnormalities. However, we would like to continue to monitor you closely and request that you continue to have a regular test".

A little tear roles down my cheek. 2 years clear. I should celebrate. I work down the hill to my friends house - its great having my closest two girlfriends a staggering distance from my house.

And there is more reason to celebrate - my career is going well and I've been asked to Chair a conference for a big organisation. I have a feeling that the next year is going to be career changing.

The girls and I talk about our recent romances - all 3 of us seem to be having a bit of luck recently. Kas and I have been texting. He has made it clear that he's not looking for a relationship - I can just about live with it knowing that I might get to sleep with him again. We've flirted, had some sexting and he seems keen to meet up at some point. He, like me, leads a busy life, but i hope that at some point it might happen again. I really hope it does, I've bought a tonne of new underwear and I haven't had a "friend with benefits" for ages!

So life is good. There is less than a week til my first proper holiday in 2 years - a private villa on the coast in Portugal - my closest friends, gorgeous beaches, amazing surf and some much needed sunshine. I'll update you when i'm back...
